Marr Grange butchers

Our Mission

It all began in 1990 with a small building on a family farm; that had been keeping pigs since the ’60s.

Originally established as a Wholesale business by Susan & Philip Hardy; owners of the farm, as a way to sell their home-bred pigs to butchers in the area.

It soon became apparent that people living in the immediate area also had the need for home-grown and responsibly farmed meat, with suggestions flooding in for somewhere to purchase this produce every week. So began the adventure of becoming the retailer.

With the help of Nicola; their daughter; and her husband Ian, who shared their passion for home-cooked and produced food; along with James, their son and his wife managing the farm; the business began to grow.

16 years later, in 2006, it became the Farm Shop you can visit today.

Community

People are at the heart of what we do. We’re not just a place to get your groceries each week; we’re a family and a community who believes in producing the very best, wholesome, local food for everyone to enjoy.

From our humble beginnings, exceptional customer service has been at the forefront of our business, proven by our strong and loyal customer base.

By eating your breakfast in our Tea Rooms, purchasing your meat from our Butchers Counter and even selecting one of our Scotch Eggs; you are securing future generations of farmers, providing jobs in the local community and reducing the environmental impact on the world.

We support 18 businesses in the Yorkshire area!

Quality

We create strong, long-lasting relationships with all of our farmers, suppliers and producers. Products are hand-selected by members of our team and discussed with the supplier on the shared understanding of quality and sustainability.

We support local farmers and even the flour that goes into each one of our Bakery Products is produced from farmers in a radius of 5 miles from the Farm Shop and then milled at a small, family-run production in East Yorkshire.
